The Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Indiana Holiday Commission, the Indiana Civil Rights Commission and the Indiana Black Expo, Inc. are pleased to announce their first annual statewide Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Art, Writing and Multimedia Contest. The purpose of this contest is to encourage students to reflect upon Dr. King's life and the impact of his work in the Civil Rights Movement and in present day America. It will challenge students to think about how civil rights and diversity affects their lives and how they can continue the work of Dr. King by making a difference in their own communities.

All Indiana students in grades 9-12 are invited to enter the contest. Each student may submit (1) entry. All entries must be received by December 10, 2011. All contest entries must be accompanied by an official entry form.

Theme. The 2012 competition plays tribute to what Dr. King believed to be life's most persistent and urgent question: "What are you doing for others in the community?"
