Indianapolis—The Indiana Civil Rights Commission (ICRC) will conduct a Continuing Legal Education (CLE) seminar for attorneys and legal professionals in Indianapolis Friday, August 24, 2012 at the Indiana Government Conference Center. The free training, titled Civil Rights in Education, will be worth 3.0 CLE credits.

“It is important that we reach every corner of the state in our education and outreach efforts,” said Jamal L. Smith, Executive Director of the ICRC. “We want to ensure that legal professionals are familiar with recent cases and any changes in legislation.”

The seminar, which begins 9:00 am, will be led by legal counsel with the Indiana Department of Education. Topics for the seminar include: harassment, bullying, special education (specifically Section 504) and student classifications.

The CLE in Indianapolis is just one in a series of seminars in the ICRC’s 2012 Statewide Continuing Legal Education Program. Each of the program’s six seminars are free to attend and will focus on local, state and federal anti-discrimination laws.
