The ICSSBM would like to congratulate the Michigan City Commission on the Social Status of African-American Males. Their local commission has been awarded a $1,000 grant from Indiana First Lady’s Charitable Foundation Board, which is Karen Pence’s foundation focused on supporting organizations throughout the state of Indiana that seek to enhance the lives of Hoosier citizens.
MCCSSAAM’s treasurer, Marty Corley, applied for this grant by detailing the commission’s focus areas and the mission on which it was founded.
The grant will be presented to Mr. Corley at a private award ceremony on March 10, 2015.
The Michigan City commission will use these funds to further the great work that they do in their local communities, which include an annual back-to-school backpack giveaway, participation on the annual Black Barbershop Health Initiative and their own health initiative held in partnership through Michigan City schools.
