IDEM > Reporting > TRI: Toxic Release Inventory TRI: Toxic Release Inventory

The Toxic Release Inventory (TRI) or SARA 313 is a publicly available database that contains detailed information on nearly 650 chemicals and chemical categories that over 23,000 industrial and other facilities manage through disposal or other releases, recycling, energy recovery or treatment. The TRI's primary function is to inform of potential chemical releases and environmental waste generated by local facilities. Only facilities that meet the certain requirements must report.

TRI data is very useful for trending, but must be used in combination with many other types of data to ascertain levels of exposure or risk.
