About the Business Challenge
The Clean Air Indiana Business Challenge offers Indiana businesses unique recognition for voluntarily reducing air emissions that contribute to ground-level ozone pollution. The Clean Air Indiana Business Challenge is an important component of IDEM’s Clean Air Indiana campaign to involve all Hoosiers in efforts to improve air quality in areas which may not meet federal air health standards.
IDEM challenges businesses in Northwest Indiana, Central Indiana, Clark and Floyd counties, South Bend, Fort Wayne and Evansville to implement projects or initiatives which will produce measurable and transferable clean air results. To participate, submit the Clean Air Indiana Project Proposal Form - 53810 [PDF] to IDEM by June 30, 2009. To be considered, proposed projects must be implemented within 12 to 18 months and projects may have been initiated in 2009 prior to the open application period. These projects should focus on producing reductions in ozone-contributing emissions of volatile organic compounds (VOC) and nitrogen oxides (NOX) or both.
Winners will be announced in August 2009. IDEM will recognize each winning proposal with a formal ceremony at the winner’s place of business, feature each winning proposal prominently on the IDEM Clean Air Indiana Web site, and issue news releases to publicize the winning proposals.
Up to six winners will be chosen from the areas of: Northwest Indiana, Central Indiana, Clark and Floyd counties, South Bend, Fort Wayne and Evansville. Up to two winners will be chosen from all other areas of the state. No more than a total of eight winners will be chosen statewide.
