TRI-MEweb
U.S. EPA strongly recommends the use of TRI-MEweb to submit information to the TRI program. However, if you plan to submit hard copy forms, U.S. EPA is providing fillable forms that can be completed using a computer and then printed, signed, and mailed. For facilities that submit their RY 2011 or RY 2010 TRI paper forms, U.S. EPA highly recommends using this new Web-based format to complete forms prior to printing them.
The RY 2011 TRI-MEweb application helps facilities in determining and completing their Emergency Planning and Community Right-to-Know (EPCRA) Section 313 and Pollution Prevention Act (PPA) Section 6607 obligations. TRI-MEweb is a interactive, intelligent, user-friendly web-based application tool that guides facilities through the TRI reporting experience. By leading prospective reporters through a series of logically ordered questions, TRI-MEweb streamlines the analysis needed to determine if a user must complete a Form R Report or may complete the Form A Certification Statement for a particular chemical.
For those facilities required to report, the TRI-MEweb software provides the user with guidance for each data element on the reporting Form R and Form A Certification Statement. The TRI-MEweb reporting system will check the data for common errors and then prepare the forms for electronic transmission to be certified in the Central Data Exchange (CDX). All of the information contained in this RY 2011 Reporting Forms and Instructions manual is contained within the TRI-MEweb application.
U.S. EPA will accept only TRI-MEweb or paper submissions for RY 2011.
The following are reasons why you should use TRI-MEweb in RY 2011:
- TRI-MEweb will guide reporting facilities through the RY2011 changes to the reporting requirements as described earlier in this section.
- A Web-enabled threshold determination tool is also available to help facilities determine if they need to report to TRI. The threshold tool is useful in determining if your facility meets all three threshold indexes: number of employees, covered industry sector and chemical specific thresholds.
- A new feature in TRI-MEweb will allow a preparer to choose whether or not to preload the most recent prior year data into their current year forms. The TRIMEweb application will transfer most recent prior data from U.S. EPA’s databases into the current year’s forms.
