Annual Fees

Wastewater Annual Permit Fees

Annual Fee Billing is required for active NPDES permits as set forth in Indiana Administrative Code 327 IAC 5-3-17. The annual fee is comprised of two parts: a base fee and a “flow” fee based on the amount of the facility’s flow from the previous year. Facilities with no discharge are required to pay any applicable base fee as long as the permit is active. The entire amount of the assessed fee is due and payable by the permit holder unless IDEM receives and approves a permit termination request by December 31st of the previous year. A permit is active until it is officially terminated by IDEM.

If you have any questions regarding wastewater permit fee invoices, please contact the Office of Water Quality.

Public Water System Annual Fees

Annual Fee Billing is required for all active Public Water Systems and is based upon population requirements contained in Indiana Code (IC) 13-18-20.5. The amount of the assessed fee is determined by the type of water system. Please note that all facilities must pay the public water system annual fee even if a facility participates in the Small System Laboratory Assistance Program (SSLAP) [PDF]. The entire amount of the assessed fee is due and payable by the public water system unless IDEM receives and approves a termination request from the facility by December 31st of the previous year. A facility is considered active until it is officially terminated by IDEM.

If you have any questions regarding public water system fees and/or invoices, please contact the Office of Water Quality.
