Copy of Main

Some family members of offenders incarcerated at our New Castle Correctional Facility (NCCF) have received typewritten letters threatening harm to their loved one from gang members if they do not put $500.00 on a "Green Dot" card. The letter contains instructions on how to load the card and to whom it should be sent. The letters are all typewritten and postmarked from Indianapolis, and contain a stamp saying they have been "mailed by an inmate at the Indiana DOC". Facility investigative affairs personnel are aware of these letters and advised family members they believe these letters to be extortion scams. Family members are urged not to comply with the letters' demands.

Any family member receiving such a letter is asked to contact Rob Walling at 765-593-0111 ext 3309 or Mike Smith 765-593-0111 ext 2005
