How to Register to Vote

There are three ways to register to vote in Indiana

1) Online: Using the Voter Registration Portal, you can:

  • Check your registration status, and

  • Update your registration, if needed (examples: change of address or name)

To register online, you will need a valid Indiana Driver’s License or ID number.  If you do not have one, you may still register with a paper form either by mail or in-person.

2) By mail: download the printable voter registration form or visit your local public library to request a voter registration form.

  • Complete the form using your valid Indiana driver’s license, ID number, or the last four digits of your social security number.

  • Mail the form to your county election office or to the State of Indiana Election Division:

    • Election Division
Office of the Secretary of State
302 West Washington Street, Room E-204
      Indianapolis, IN 46204-2743

  • Be sure to mail your registration as soon as possible. We encourage you to put it in the mailbox at least one week before it's due. The deadline to register to vote in the 2024 Election is October 7.

3) In-person: registration is offered at several locations, including

  • License branches

  • FSSA offices

  • Workforce development offices

You can view the full list of full-service voter registration agencies under information about the National Voter Registration Act here. Visit one of these places to register to vote.
