INDOT's Rail Office is dedicated to preserving and developing freight and passenger corridors throughout the state of Indiana. This is done through financial assistance to railroads and port authorities, participation in regional planning groups, and monitoring rail industry developments.

FY 17 Grade Crossing Fund

The Indiana State Legislature established the Railroad Grade Crossing Fund (RRGCF) (I.C. 8-6-7.7-6.1) to provide funding for railroad-highway crossing improvement projects throughout Indiana. The Indiana Department of Transportation (INDOT) Rail Office manages the RRGCF program as a cost reimbursement grant. Local Public Agencies (LPAs) such as cities, towns, and counties are eligible to apply, as are Class II and Class III Railroads and Port Authorities.
Applications for the RRGCF for FY17 are being accepted until close of business on July 29, 2016. The application forms for Railroads and LPAs are below; as is the Crossing Closure application form. Please refer to the RRGCF FY17 Guidelines and Crossing Closure Guidelines below for further detailed information.
