Preservation projects include those that restore a roadway to "like-new" quality and ensure the roadway will be safe and effective for many years to come. When pavement reaches the end of its lifetime, it needs to be replaced; that's where pavement preservation projects come in.

Preservation projects also enhance the safety and usefulness of a roadway. Improvements made during pavement preservation projects often include bridge replacements, intersection improvements and sight distance improvements. Caring for our existing roadways through pavement preservation is vital to improving and maintaining our superior transportation system.
