INDOT > Programs / Events > Environmental Initiatives > Office of Environmental Services Office of Environmental Services

The Office of Environmental Services (OES) works to identify and address environmental needs in the project development process. OES is divided into three sections: Environmental Policy, Ecology and Waterway Permitting, and Cultural Resources. These sections are involved in many aspects of the environmental transportation process, and work to ensure compliance with state and federal laws by developing environmental policy, programmatic agreements, and gathering environmental data for use in project analysis.

LPA Guidance for Economic Recovery Projects: INDOT, OES has put together the following guidance on procedures that LPAs can use to comply with the required federal laws as quickly as possible.

UPDATE! INDOT, OES now has a listserv that will provide updates regarding manual and policy changes, upcoming training, and any other information important to INDOT environmental processes. To subscribe, please click here.

INDOT's Office of Environmental Services team of experienced archaeologists, along with contractors and consultants, complete the relocation of the Wright-Whitesell-Gentry Cemetery, originally located on Indianapolis' busy northeast side. The pioneer families in this cemetery were re-buried in a new location at Indianapolis' Crown Hill Cemetery in 2008.
