The key function of INK is to act as a service for people with legitimate research interests to find cross-agency, State data. Below you will find information on how to request data from INK, how we handle single agency requests, and view our data request process. You'll also be able to familiarize yourself with our Data Request Form and Data Sharing Agreement template. If you have any questions, please don't hesitate to reach out to us via our Contact page.
Send a brief description of your request to firstname.lastname@example.org, and an INK team member will contact you to discuss your request in more detail. For questions about our data request process please check out our data request process flow.
During that initial meeting, the INK team member will review our Data Request Form with you. This is posted here so you have an idea of what kinds of questions you will be asked, and is not currently required for you to submit your initial data request. You are more than welcome to download the document, and attach it to the email above, but again it is not required.
If you are planning on publishing your findings, we ask that you follow our citation guidelines document.
At INK we take data security and privacy very seriously. Even if you are an experienced education researcher, please take a few moments and review this presentation on FERPA and IDEA. This presentation was created by the Privacy Technical Assistance Center (PTAC) in coordination with the U.S. Department of Education.
Some data requests will require a Data Sharing Agreement (DSA) depending on the granularity of the data being delivered. Here is a link to our DSA template so you can familiarize yourself with the agreement.
Please note that INK is meant to support questions that require cross agency data. If you think your request can be filled by a single agency, please send your requests directly to that agency via the website or email below. If you are unsure you can always send your request to the INK data request email and we'll help you find the right resource.
