Lisa L. Swaim graduated from Muncie Burris Laboratory High School in 1986. She earned a Bachelor of Science degree from Ball State University, focusing her studies in Political Science and Asian Studies, and graduated with Magna Cum Laude honors in 1991.
While attending Indiana University School of Law – Indianapolis, she worked as an intern in the Marion County Prosecutor’s Office. During her internship, she handled major felony and homicide cases. She tried several jury trials before graduating from law school in December of 1994.
She began working as a Marion County Deputy Prosecuting Attorney in May 1995, prosecuting juvenile major felony cases, and was later promoted to Lead Arson & Bombing Prosecutor in the Adult Division.
In January 2001, Prosecutor Swaim was hired as the Chief Deputy Prosecutor for Cass County, holding that position until she was elected as the Cass County Prosecutor in November, 2014. Throughout her career in prosecution, she has worked hard to maintain and improve community safety and be a strong advocate for victims of crime.
In Cass County, Swaim is a past president of the YMCA Board, past president of Logansport Noon Kiwanis, past board member of Big Brothers/Big Sisters of Cass County, and is a current board member of the Cass County Community Foundation and the Indiana Prosecuting Attorneys Council. She is a member of the National District Attorneys Association. She and her husband, Randy Head, are members of Main Street United Methodist Church in Logansport.
