Mike Lautzenheiser Sr. has served in the Wells County Prosecutors Office continuously since 1981, with two (2) years as Chief Deputy Prosecuting Attorney and since 1983 as Prosecuting Attorney.  Mike is a graduate of Bluffton High School, Ball State University and Ohio Northern School of Law, being admitted to practice law in the State of Indiana in 1978.  Mike is a member of the Wells County Bar Association (past President), the Indiana Bar Association, the Indiana Prosecuting Attorneys Council, and the National District Attorneys Association, as well as having been admitted to practice law in the United States District Court.  Mike is or has been a member of the Child Abuse Team, the Child Protection Team, the Domestic Violence Task Force, Citizen’s Against Drug Abuse, the Community Corrections Advisory Board, the State Criminal Code Redraft Committee, the Fraternal Order of Police, St. Josephs Catholic Church, the Knights of Columbus, and numerous other community and school organizations.  During Mike’s tenure as Prosecuting Attorney the Wells County Prosecutors Office has been recognized for many programs, including its Drunk Driver philosophy and program, consistently being one of the top counties in the State for child support collection, and a commitment to preventing child abuse and domestic violence.  Mike is a life-long resident of Bluffton and Wells County, where he and his spouse of almost 40 years, Debbie raised their four (4) children; Jacqueline, Michael Jr., Daniel and Aaron.  Mike has been elected to the Office of Prosecuting Attorney eight (8) consecutive times and is currently serving the last term of his career, as he retire at the end of this current term of office on December 31, 2014.
