NextGen Communications - P25 & FirstNet
Public Safety Communications technology is developing at a rapid pace, and Indiana is making plans, both short term and long term, to integrate next generation communications technology into existing and future communications systems.
The state has completed the migration of the statewide 800 MHz voice communications system to P25 standards. A current system map is available here.
Long term, the state is planning for the Nationwide Public Safety Broadband Network (FirstNet), the country's first nationwide broadband network dedicated to public safety. For more on the status of Indiana's Nationwide Public Safety Broadband Network planning, visit www.in.gov/ipsc/infirstnet.
