CTE Awareness Initiative Grant
The Indiana Works Councils awarded $65,000 Career and Technical Education (CTE) Awareness grants to ten Regional Works Councils to bolster awareness of local career and technical education efforts. The purpose of this grant application is to provide each council with the opportunity to fund a CTE Awareness project as well as a secondary project; both must address issues that each council uncovered in its initial evaluation of CTE opportunities within its respective region.

The Region 4 grant will:
- Funded Manufacturing Day in October, 2014, where 370 high school students toured the facilities of 14 different manufacturers and took part in 42 Career Ready Workshops to discover careers in manufacturing
Provide marketing for the region’s CTE opportunities including brochures, mailings, handouts used to promote and market educator in-service, student ‘non-school’ workshops, manufacturing open houses/tours occurring from June 2014-June 2015
Provide student program scholarships from June 2014-June 2015
Expand the Purdue Electric Go Cart Camp to include additional students with Subaru of Indiana, Caterpillar, and Chrysler of Kokomo and Tipton from June 2014 to June 2015
Provide counselor and teacher in-service training through educator enrichment in the areas of advanced manufacturing and/or STEM education from June 2014 to June 2015
