Extent of Problem:
Low income women of childbearing age are at high risk for unplanned pregnancies.
Sexually transmitted diseases and other health problems are of great concern.
Provide clients with physical exams, family planning counseling, and contraceptive supplies.
Provide additional services including nutritional assessment and counseling, psychosocial assessment, counseling and referral, and health education covering a variety of topics such as self-breast exams and sexually transmitted diseases.
The Maternal and Child Health Block Grant provides partial funding for 7 family planning projects serving approximately 12,000 women.
