Lessons 51-63 are necessary for the QMA practicing prior to the May 30, 2002 QMA rule implementation.
The following INITIAL STEPS (to be taken prior to the initiation of medication administration or the performance of a treatment/procedure) and FINAL STEPS (to be taken upon completion of medication administration or the performance of a treatment/procedure) apply to each of the performance checklists to be completed to verify training on the tasks included in the May 30, 2002 rule.
QMAs practicing prior to the May 30, 2002 rule implementation must receive additional training on the following skills prior to January 2005.
Lesson 51 - Medical Asepsis (Clean Technique)
Lesson 52 - Administering Medications via the Gastrostomy Tube (G-tube) or Jejunal Tube (J-tube)
Lesson 53 - Applying a Dressing to a healed Gastrostomy Tube (G-tube) or Jejunal Tube (J-tube) Site
Lesson 54 - Administration of Medication via Metered Dose Inhaler
Lesson 55 - Applying a Dressing to a Minor Skin Tear
Lesson 57 - Emptying and Changing a Colostomy Bag
Lesson 58 - Administering a Sitz Bath
Lesson 59 - Applying a Cold, Dry Compress
Lesson 60 - Diabetic Testing (Urine and Finger Stick)
Lesson 61 - Collecting Fecal or Urine Specimens/Hemoccult Testing
Lesson 63 - Instilling a Commercially Prepared Enema
