The HIV Prevention Counseling Course is a skills-based course for individuals working or volunteering as an HIV Prevention Counselor. Participants must be sponsored by a directly or indirectly state-funded counseling and testing site, or other state recognized agency and organization. Course curriculum includes:

To register for this training, review and complete the registration form. Individuals must meet all pre-requisites indicated on the registration form prior to the course. Individuals must attend the entire course and successfully complete the assessment phase for Pre-certification. Following verification by sponsoring agency of 5 successful monitored counseling sessions (including at least one where a positive test result is witnessed or given by participant) documentation can be submitted to the Division of HIV/STD for full certification.
