Welcome to the home page for the Indiana State Department of Health (ISDH) Division of Health Care Engineering and Measurement. The Division of Health Care Engineering and Measurement consists of engineering programs in support of health care licensing and certification programs for acute care and long term care providers. The Division also provides state weights and measures services. The ISDH has created individual program home pages for some of the programs. Links to the program home pages are below.
The mission of the Division of Health Care Engineering and Measurement is to improve health and safety of health care facilities and provide state weights and measures services. The Health Care Engineering Program reviews and approves construction plans for regulated health care facilities to assure they will be constructed in accordance with nationally recognized medical, health, safety and accessibility standards. The Weights and Measures Program is a nationally accredited laboratory. The program tests weight and measure devices, completes random sampling and testing of motor fuel from gasoline service stations to assure it meets or exceeds the octane rating stated on the pump, and provides metrology services for certification of standards for weight, mass, length, and volume.
