Current Construction Projects

Below, you will find information about current construction projects in Indiana. At this time, the Commission is aware of one interstate pipeline construction project underway in the state. This interstate pipeline falls under the jurisdiction of the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC).

Centennial Pipeline NGL

UPDATE: As of April 25, 2017, work on the Centennial Pipeline NGL project has slowed. Effective immediately, Centennial is suspending all field work on the project, including surveying, easement acquisition, and all other pre-construction activities in Jackson, Lawrence, Green, and Sullivan counties in Indiana. Centennial Pipeline, LLC, is continuing to negotiate with prospective shippers on the project.

FERC Docket No.: There is no case docketed before FERC because FERC does not oversee the construction of oil pipelines. Once in service, the rates and charges collected for transportation service in interstate commerce will be subject to the jurisdiction of FERC.

The Centennial Pipeline NGL project is an effort to move propane and other natural gas liquids from the Marcellus and Utica production areas in Pennsylvania, West Virginia, and Ohio to markets along the U.S. Gulf Coast. The project primarily relies on existing infrastructure, but also requires new builds to connect to existing facilities. The new build involves constructing approximately 150 miles of 20-inch pipeline between Seymour, Indiana, and Dieterich, Illinois.

The exact route of the pipeline is still under consideration; as currently planned, the project will cross the Indiana counties of Jackson, Lawrence, Green, and Sullivan. Subject to other pending regulatory approvals, Centennial anticipates preliminary clearing will begin in the fall of 2017 and primary construction will begin in the late spring of 2018 with the pipeline in service in the fall of 2018.
