IURC APPROVES RATE ADJUSTMENT FOR ROCHESTER TELEPHONE COMPANY, INC

Today the Indiana Utility Regulatory Commission approved a settlement agreement between the Rochester Telephone Company and the Indiana Utility Consumer Counselor which results in an slight increase in charges.

In Cause No. 42039, the Commissioners agree that the company’s request was reasonable.  This is the first increase in rates and charges for the Rochester Telephone Company since 1956.

Under the terms of that Settlement, monthly rates for residential and local exchange services will increase $2.73 (from $4.87 to $7.60) and for business local exchange services by $5.05 (from $8.80 to $13.85).  These rates are to be applicable to all customers, and Petitioner’s exchange line mileage charge of $.25 per quarter mile for service outside Petitioner’s Base Rate Area is to be eliminated

Rochester Telephone serves nearly 9,000 business and residential customers in and around the city of Rochester, in Fulton County, Indiana.
