Registration for the 2016 Annual GAL/CASA Conference Has Begun

The Indiana Supreme Court's State Office of GAL/CASA is excited to present its 20th Annual GAL/CASA Conference, More Than Words, on Saturday, October 1st, at the Indianapolis Marriott East. The conference features a full day of breakout and plenary sessions designed for both CASA volunteers and local program staff members.
 
The Keynote Speaker at this year's conference is Marilyn Van Derbur. She is requested nationwide as a prominent keynote and motivational speaker, speaking on sexual abuse prevention and recovery. As a childhood incest survivor, she has devoted much of her adult life to raising national awareness and understanding of sexual abuse and its long-term effects. She co-founded two national not-for-profit organizations dedicated to public education and strengthening laws protecting victims of sexual abuse.
 
The conference will also provide three breakout sessions on 15 different topics, including:

  • The Heroin Crisis and CASA kids
  • Advocating for Independent Living with Older Youth
  • Testifying on Behalf of CASA Children
  • Childhood Sexual Abuse and Brain Development
  • Human Trafficking
  • Achieving Balance and Relieving Stress

Register for the 20th Annual Indiana GAL/CASA Conference

 

Upcoming Attorney Training

​We are pleased to announce TWO upcoming Guardian ad Litem attorney training dates. We will hold a training Crown Point on August 26, 2016, and another in Indianapolis on October 20, 2016. Both trainings meet the statutory requirements for GAL attorneys who represent children in juvenile court cases. Those who complete the entire training will receive six hours of CLE; one hour of which is ethics. There is no cost to attend, but lunch is on  your own. You can bring your own lunch or we can provide a list of nearby restaurants.
