Tips & Tricks

The following tips are provided for your convenience and are directed at Windows users only.

Saving Files vs. Viewing Files Online. The Indiana Judiciary website contains links to many different Microsoft Word and Adobe PDF files, including forms, rules of court, newsletters, and more. In some cases, you may wish to save a file to your computer as opposed to simply viewing it online—especially in the case of forms—but many people don't know how. Following are instructions on how to save Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel, Adobe PDF, and Corel WordPerfect files to your hard drive:

When you encounter text or an image that hyperlinks to a document that you wish to save to your hard drive, simply right-click on the text or image hyperlink and select 'Save Target As' in Internet Explorer or 'Save Link As' in Netscape Navigator and Mozilla Firefox from the context menu. A window will open asking you to choose a location on your computer in which to save the file; choose a location and click 'OK.'

Be sure that you have the proper program for viewing the file. For example, if you download a Microsoft Word file, you must have Word installed on your computer in order to view it.

Changing Font Size. If text in your browser is too small for you to read, or if it is larger than you are comfortable with, you can change it! Simply follow the instructions listed under the browser that you use.

Alternatively, if you have a mouse with a scroll wheel, you can hold the control button while spinning the scroll wheel to change text size (spin forward to zoom in or backward to zoom out. This works in all Microsoft programs.)
