SEEING DOUBLE

ABATE MEMBERS RIDE INTO STATEHOUSE       
American Bikers Aimed Towards Education (ABATE) members from Dearborn, Ripley, Decatur and Shelby counties extend their thanks to Sen. Jean Leising (R-Oldenburg) Tuesday, Jan. 26, 2010, at the Statehouse for her support on the passage of Senate Bill 31. Now on its way to the House Representatives, SB 31 would amend current Indiana law regarding motorcycle handlebar height and allow the handlebars on a motorcycle to be as high as the rider’s shoulders while seated on the bike.

Tackling Rural Issues Remain Priority for Leising, Farm Bureau Members

Shelby Recorder Phares and Sen. Leising Share Updates
Shelby County Recorder Mary Jo Phares and State Sen. Jean Leising (R-Oldenburg) update one another on legislation impacting local government. Phares (right) was at the Statehouse on Wednesday, Jan. 20, 2010, to attend a hearing on pending House legislation regarding county operations. Leising, who was busy with Senate committees, conferred with Phares in the Senate Chamber following the day’s meetings. Leising frequently seeks input and guidance from constituents and officials who visit the Statehouse.

WALDRON ELEMENTARY STUDENTS TOUR STATEHOUSE: Students, faculty and parents from Waldron Elementary School visit the Statehouse Tuesday afternoon. While at the Capitol, students experienced firsthand where lawmakers craft legislation and learned the history of the Statehouse. 

NDHS STUDENTS VISIT STATEHOUSE: Students from North Decatur High School toured the Indiana Statehouse on Friday afternoon. Sen. Jean Leising (R-Oldenburg) arranged for the group of 25 juniors and seniors to visit the chambers of the Indiana House of Representatives and Indiana Senate, as well as the Indiana Supreme Court.
