Boone County was created in 1830 from Hendricks and Marion Counties. It is located in central Indiana. The county seat is Lebanon. A temporary building for some county offices experienced a fire in 1856, resulting in loss of nearly all records prior to that date in the Recorder, Treasurer, and Auditor’s offices.
