Learning to Love Federal Documents
How do you get library staff excited about working with government publications? Staff from the U.S. Government Publishing Office will discuss how to get librarians interested in and comfortable with government documents. Examples will cover Federal Depository Library Program promotion, government information reference and common myths. The session will also include tips training for those who do not work directly with the FDLP.

This program will show the various state documents in the Indiana State Library’s Digital Collections and those that the Indiana State Library has contributed to Internet Archive. It will include materials from the Legislature and various Indiana state agencies. (TLEU eligible)

Sustainable Strides: Efforts and Open Resources toward Environmental Preservation
This session will provide an overview of the strides Indiana has taken to becoming a more environmentally sustainable state. From its roots as a coal hub, Indiana and local governments have initiated movements to safeguard our state. This presentation will trace Indiana’s history and
progress of government entities to preserve our natural environment. Attendees will learn online resources and discover new techniques to research environmental sustainability topics in Indiana like renewable energy, crop rotations, recycling and other green strides occurring near you.

Government Information Day 2022 Registration Now Open!
Registration is now open for Government Information Day 2022. This 1-day in-person conference on Friday May 20, 2022, at the Indiana State Library. GID22 will feature presentations on topics relating to state, federal, and census data information. This year’s theme is Building Connections. Discovering .GOV, and features speakers from the U.S. Government Publishing Office (GPO), Indiana University Wells Library, and Indiana State Library. The keynote speaker for GID22 is GPO Director Hugh Halpern, the agency’s chief executive officer.
During the day, there will be no-conflict opportunities for attendees to visit exhibitors’ information booths. The event is free to attend and offers a great learning and networking opportunity for librarians, library staff, information professionals, and members of the public. Indiana public librarians can earn up to 4 LEUs toward their certification. About the Conference:
Government Information Day, or GID, is a free biennial conference for librarians interested in learning about government resources and improving information literacy. The conference is typically held at the Indiana State Library, and serves as an excellent networking opportunity for Indiana or government documents librarians. Indiana public librarians can also earn LEUs for nearly every session they attend.
The next Government Information Day conference will be Friday May 20th, 2022 at the Indiana State Library. Stay tuned for more information detailing conference sessions and participating vendors. Registration will open in early 2022.
