Biographical Note:
David Barr Robb was born on July 12, 1771, in Ireland. He came to America in 1775, settling first in Pennsylvania. He later moved to Kentucky (1786) and finally settled in Gibson County, Indiana (1800). In 1800, he married Nancy Eckley with whom he had ten children. Robb was justice of the peace in Knox and Gibson counties (1801); Gibson County Surveyor (1814); and register of the U.S. Land Office in LaPorte, Indiana (1833-1837). He served in the War of 1812 and was a captain in the 26th Regiment (1826) and 83rd Regiment (1834) of the Indiana Infantry. He served in the territorial House of Representatives (1813-1814); the Indiana House of Representatives (1820-1823, 1825, 1828-1829); and the Indiana Senate (1829-1833). Robb was also a member of Indiana’s 1816 Constitutional Convention. He died on April 15, 1844.
