INSPIRE: Indiana's Virtual LibraryIntroduce your patrons to these tools to help distinguish themselves in the job market:

Résumé Builder – This tool will guide you through the resume writing process—it helps you organize your information, offers designs to choose from, and provides brainstorming phrases to help you highlight your accomplishments. You can also create an online résumé viewable by potential employers as a webpage.

Virtual Career Library – Guide yourself through the career-seeking process, from searching for jobs to preparing resumes and cover letters to negotiating job conditions. Learn how to find a new career, land the job, and thrive in your new position.

eBooks from Home - The Indiana Shared eBook Collection offers professional development resources that offer insight into writing effective résumés, learning simple and advanced computer skills and career guidance and job effectiveness strategies.

Teen Tech Week Mini Grant Deadline Approaches

Teen Tech Week 2011The Young Adult Library Services Association (YALSA), a division of the American Library Association (ALA), will award up to 10 mini grants, consisting of $450 in cash and $50 worth of Teen Tech Week products, to YALSA members who create a reading program that incorporates technology for their Teen Tech Week celebrations. Teen Tech Week 2011 will be celebrated March 6-12 with a theme of Mix and Mash @ your library.

Applications for the mini grants are due on Jan. 3. Visit www.ala.org/teentechweek to read the official rules and download the application form. Teen Tech Week highlights the importance of connecting teens with different technologies, especially those available through the library. Teen Tech Week also encourages teens to recognize that librarians are qualified, trusted professionals in the field of information technology.
