eReader Forum Scheduled for June 8th

eReader Forum In response to numerous LSTA grant applications for eReaders, iPads and digital content, a forum has been scheduled to discuss these resources on Wednesday, June 8 from 9:00AM-11:00AM at the State library. The guided discussion will examine best practices for the use of eReaders and iPads in libraries. Ultimately, attendee input will guide current and future LSTA Technology expenditures and shape how digital content is made available statewide.

Please RSVP via the WebJunction Indiana Online Calendar or contact LSTA Grant Consultant Jennifer Clifton with questions at jclifton@library.in.gov or (317)234-6550.

Ivy Tech LTA Program Receives National Recognition

Library Technical Assistant Program at the Ivy Tech Community CollegeThe American Library Association-Allied Professional Association (ALA-APA) recently announced that the Library Technical Assistant program at the Ivy Tech Community College in Indianapolis is one of three Library Assistant Training programs nationwide that will allow their graduates to receive the Library Support Staff Certification (LSSC) without having to further demonstrate their skills and knowledge.

The ALA-APA proposed these agreements after reviewing these programs’ curriculums and finding that graduates must complete courses that cover the majority of LSSC’s competency requirements. To receive the LSSC, candidates from LTA programs must have the required one year of recent library experience or meet that requirement within four years.

To learn more about this degree agreements or about LSSC, visit http://ala-apa.org/lssc/ or contact LSSC Program staff at lssc@ala.org
