Biographical Note:

Roscoe Leak was born in Lizton, IN on September 18, 1884, son of Hillary and Catherine (Leach) Leak. Leak graduated from Central Normal College at Danville in 1906. Leak was a noted authority in the early history of Hendricks County. He was the local representative to the Indiana Historical Society from Hendricks County, and had several articles appear in the Indiana Magazine of History. Leak was also a member of the Knights of Pythias, the Republican Party, and the Disciples of Christ Church where he served as an elder for many years. Leak married Minnie Noe and had one son and two daughters. Leak died on October 22, 1964.

Scope and Content Note:

The collection contains letters, histories of early Indiana families, notes and manuscripts on local history, and newspaper clippings. The collection mostly relates to early Clark and Hendricks Counties with an emphasis on the Disciples of Christ Church and the Methodist Church of those two counties.
