Northern Indiana Public Service Company (NIPSCO) is seeking to increase its base rates and charges for electric utility service in Indiana Utility Regulatory Commission (IURC) Cause No. 43526.

The Indiana Office of Utility Consumer Counselor (OUCC) filed testimony on May 8, 2009 recommending denial of the utility’s requested increase. 

IURC public field hearings and OUCC informational meetings in this case were held in March 2009 in Gary and in July 2009 in Michigan City.

At this time, NIPSCO is scheduled to file its proposed order in this case on October 15, 2009. Proposed orders from the OUCC and intervening parties are due November 19, 2009.
