Crawfordsville Municipal Electric Rates

The IURC has approved a rate settlement agreement between Crawfordsville Electric Light & Power (CEL&P) and the OUCC. The agreement will allow for an annual increase of about $4.7 million.

The OUCC filed the following testimony on Dec. 23, 2020, recommending limiting the increase to nearly $3.3 million:

All publicly filed documents are posted in the IURC's online case file, including the utility's original request for a $6.2 million increase when fully implemented: :

Our infographic outlines the steps in a rate case. The OUCC invited consumer comments in October 2020. The OUCC fact sheet distributed at the case's Oct. 29, 2020 field hearing offers additional information.

CEL&P's current rates were approved in 2016. This page will be updated based on case developments.

Electric utilities can also adjust rates due to changes in wholesale power costs. Those costs can only be recovered on a dollar-for-dollar basis. OUCC review and IURC approval are required.

As of July 2023, Crawfordsville's typical monthly residential electric bill ranks 5th-highest among the 12 electric utilities the IURC regulates.
