Richmond Municipal Electric Rates

Richmond Power & Light (RP&L) withdrew from IURC jurisdiction over its rates and charges in November 2022.

In its last rate case before the IURC, RP&L and the OUCC reached a settlement agreement which received Commission approval in January 2021.

The approved agreement allowed an increase of about $5.8 million, to be implemented in three phases.

RP&L originally requested a $7.7 million rate increase in IURC Cause No. 45361. In testimony filed prior to settling, the OUCC recommended limiting the increase to about $4.4 million:

As of July 2023, Richmond's typical monthly residential electric bill ranked 8th-lowest among the 12 electric utilities under IURC jurisdiction.
