GARY, Ind.- The Indiana Department of Transportation (INDOT) announces the ramp from northbound I-65 to eastbound I-80/94 will be closed between midnight at 5 a.m. July 26 during demolition of the Colorado Street bridge over I-80/94. This work is in relation to the Major Moves New Construction Interchange Modification project at I-65 and I-80/94 (the Frank Borman Expressway).
During the ramp closure, a posted detour will direct I-65 traffic to take westbound I-80/94 to the ramps at State Road 53 (S.R. 53) to eastbound I-80/94.
Various nighttime restrictions on I-80/94 between Martin Luther King Drive and Central Avenue will continue for the next several months. Beginning at 9 p.m. each working night, crews are restricting various lanes on east or westbound I-80/94. Between midnight and 5 a.m. crews are closing the roadway for up to 20 minutes at a time during overhead bridge work. Indiana State Police are on hand to help direct traffic through the rolling closures.
The work schedule is subject to change in the event of inclement weather. INDOT reminds motorists to use caution and consider worker safety when traveling through a construction zone. For more information about the Interchange Modification, visit www.in.gov/indot/div/projects/borman/ online.
Gov. Mitch Daniels' Major Moves transportation plan fully funds a decade of critical highway projects in Indiana. When Major Moves is complete in 2015, more than 200 new construction and 200 major highway preservation projects will have been built. This innovative plan will bring jobs to the Hoosier State and leave a legacy for Indiana to be a global leader in distribution and logistics.
