(STATEHOUSE) - Feb. 9, 2009. Members of the Indiana Senate will honor former Attorney General Steve Carter and Dr. Suellen K. Reed, former Superintendent of Public Instruction on Tuesday, Feb. 10 for their many years of service to the State of Indiana.

Reed, Indiana's first female and longest-serving Superintendent of Public Instruction, recently retired after a distinguished 16-year tenure.
Carter served eight years as Indiana's Attorney General during which time he served as President of the National Association of Attorneys General and worked with the General Assembly to pass the nation's strongest Do Not Call law.
Sen. Teresa Lubbers (R-Indianapolis) authored SCR 14 honoring Reed. Sen. Richard Bray (R-Martinsville) and Sen. Brent Steele (R-Bedford) authored Senate Concurrent Resolution 21 honoring Carter.
Both resolutions will be heard when the Senate convenes on Tuesday at 1:30 p.m.
