What:

The purpose of the Pursuit Policy Workshop is to provide officers with the knowledge necessary to conduct vehicular pursuits consistent with the guidelines issued by the International Association of Chiefs of Police (IACP).

At the end of the Pursuit Policy Workshop, the participant will be able to achieve the following objectives in accordance with the information received during the workshop:

. Discuss U.S. Supreme Court decisions and State-specific statutes that have impacted and governed vehicular pursuit operations.
. Discuss the components of the IACP vehicular pursuit policy guide.
. Discuss their agency's current policy in comparison with the IACP Vehicular Pursuit guidelines.
. Discuss how their agency can support vehicular pursuit operations that are consistent with the guidelines issued by the IACP.

Participants will receive a Pursuit Policy Workshop participant manual, the IACP Vehicular Pursuit Model Policy Guidelines, and State-specific statutes that govern emergency vehicle operations.

The Pursuit Policy Workshop is being provided by the Association of Law Enforcement Response Trainers (ALERT) and the Directors of Law Enforcement Standards and Training (IADLEST), with support from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA).
