Under IC 4-22-2-24, notice is hereby given that on June 25, 2009, at 9:00 a.m., at the Indiana Government Center South, 402 West Washington Street, Conference Center Room 14, Indianapolis, Indiana, the Office of the Secretary of Family and Social Services will hold a public hearing on the Office of the Secretary of Family and Social Services's proposed amendments to 405 IAC 5-3 and 405 IAC 5-21 to apply prior authorization to community mental health rehabilitation services.

To comply with the provisions of IC 4-22-2-24(d), the agency further states the following: The change would grant the OMPP the authority to implement prior authorization (PA) for Medicaid Rehabilitation Option (MRO) services. PA will be a tool the State can utilize to manage the delivery of MRO services. It will curb unnecessary requests for services as well as allow the State to better monitor the medical necessity of services that are authorized. PA will assist in ensuring that services are being delivered appropriately and that the State is in compliance with the federal rules. The rule amendment is also necessary to respond to ongoing changes made to federal rules that relate to the funding of structure and services provided under the MRO program.

Copies of these rules are now on file at the Indiana Government Center South, 402 West Washington Street, Room W451 and Legislative Services Agency, One North Capitol, Suite 325, Indianapolis, Indiana and are open for public inspection.
