The surrounding communities of landowners are invited to join the Indiana DNR employees for demonstrations on timber management. Featured speakers will include Jeff Settle, Forest Products Specialist, Bill Gallogly, Property Manager Owen-Putnam State Forest, Ralph Unversaw, District Forester for Owen/Monroe Counties, Beverly Stout, Fire Prevention Coordinator, and Donna Rogler, PLT Coordinator.

Learn how to mark timber, how to estimate volume, and why best management practices need to be applied after the harvest. We will discuss what you need to know before you harvest. Wood-mizer will be processing a log, which will include sawing the log, lumber grading, and how to measure volume.

A fire truck and fire fighting equipment will be on display for the children to learn more about wild fire safety. Smokey Bear will be visiting too.
