U.S. 20/35 Lanes Restricted and Locust Road Bridge Closed during Construction

U.S. 20/35 restrictions started today, Locust Road closure scheduled to start Monday

SOUTH BEND, Ind. - The Indiana Department of Transportation (INDOT) announces U.S. 20/35 under the Locust Road overpass will be restricted to one lane in each direction today through November 2009. Locust Road over U.S. 20/35 will be closed Monday through November 2009.

This will allow crews to perform bridge replacement construction on the Locust Road overpass. The project is scheduled for completion in November 2009.

Residents and businesses will have access to their properties on either side of the closed bridge, but through traffic will be detoured. Northbound Locust Road traffic will be directed to take Ireland Road east to Linden Road north to Ewing Avenue west and back to Locust Road. Southbound traffic will be directed to take Ewing Avenue east to Linden Road south to Ireland Road west and back to Locust Road.

The work schedule is subject to change in the event of inclement weather. INDOT reminds motorists to use caution and consider worker safety when driving through a construction zone. For the latest news and information about INDOT, please visit www.in.gov/indot.
