U.S. 31 Lanes Restricted during Microsurface Construction

Restrictions scheduled for Monday through the end of July

FULTON COUNTY, Ind. - The Indiana Department of Transportation (INDOT) announces U.S. 31 between the Fulton County Line and Old U.S. 31 will be restricted one lane at a time July 6 through the end of the month. This will allow crews to perform microsurface construction.

Microsurfacing is a thin, polymer-modified asphalt emulsion mixture that provides a new wearing course over aged and oxidized pavement. It is applied in slurry form, fills ruts in the pavement and improves friction. No compaction is necessary for this method of pavement preservation and it takes about 1-2 hours to fully cure and reopen to traffic.

The work schedule is subject to change in the event of inclement weather. INDOT reminds motorists to use caution and consider worker safety when driving through a construction zone. For the latest news and information about INDOT, please visit www.in.gov/indot.
