Reception a "Taste" of Indiana's finest wineries
INDIANAPOLIS - With more than 425 acres of vineyards and some of the most highly regarded award-winning wines in the world, Indiana's reputation as a great wine-producing state is growing. Hoosiers can taste many of these great wines for themselves as selections from Indiana's champion wineries will be available at the annual "A Taste of Indiana Agriculture" Wine Reception Wednesday, July 29 from 6 to 9 p.m. at the Indiana State Fairgrounds' Toyota Exposition Hall.
The reception is a highlight for the state's wineries that competed in the Indiana State Fair Indy International Wine Competition June 16-18 in the fairgrounds' Toyota Blue Ribbon Pavilion. The competition has grown to become one of the largest and most prestigious in the country. More than 3,000 wines from 10 countries around the world were entered this year, and Indiana wines received more than 274 medals from 30 different Hoosier wineries!
A Taste of Indiana Agriculture is not just a great showcase of Indiana's best wines, but also some of its best foods. Representatives from the state's various commodity groups will be on hand to serve up delicious dishes comprised of Indiana pork, beef, lamb, duck, emu, cheese and many other items.
