State Police Conduct a Death Investigation in French Lick - UPDATE

French Lick: An autopsy was conducted this morning in Louisville KY on Keli Owens.  According to the Orange County Coroner Terry Pinnick there was no evidence of any trauma to the child and no anatomical cause of death could be found.

The official cause of death will not be determined until the toxicology and additional tissue screening results are back.  "The additional tissue screenings are being conducted because Keli had some recent health issues and toxicology screens are standard procedure in these cases.  We have to look at every possible cause before making the official determination on the cause of death," said Pinnick.

"This is still being treated as a death investigation and the results from today's autopsy have not changed how we are investigating the case," said First Sergeant Rob Priest. Once the coroner and pathologist make the determination on the official cause of death detectives will conclude their investigation and turn the case over to the Orange County Prosecutor and Child Protective Services for their review.  "Turning the case over to the prosecutor is standard procedure and since this case involves a small child we have to forward it to Child Protective Services," said Priest.
