DFRv Surpasses 1,000 Hoosiers Assisted in 2009

The Family and Social Services Administration's (FSSA) Division of Family Resources (DFR) is proud to announce that the DFRv, mobile application station, has provided assistance to 1,035 Hoosiers in modernized counties  since hitting the road in January. The DFRv has served as a fully functional office on wheels by allowing staff to process applications, provide Food Stamps, TANF or cash assistance, and Medicaid across the state.

"The DFRv is another avenue for Hoosiers to enroll in state benefit programs," said DFR Director Cathy Boggs. "Our state eligibility consultants and on-board laptop processing stations also allow existing clients to report changes or renew benefits."

The DFRv was first used in the fall of 2008 to assist in disaster relief efforts. When flooding occurred in the northern and southern parts of the state, the mobile unit was a key component in providing Emergency Food Stamps to more than 80,000 Hoosiers.

Since the beginning of 2009, the mobile unit has visited 30 locations and will continue to travel around the state to provide assistance to Hoosiers. The DFRv will travel to Eastside Park in Washington, IN this Friday, August 14.

The DFRv currently has the ability to provide assistance in the following counties: Adams, Allen, Blackford, Carroll, Cass, Clark, Clay, Crawford, Daviess, Dearborn, DeKalb, Delaware, Dubois, Floyd, Fountain, Gibson, Grant, Greene, Harrison, Howard, Huntington, Jackson, Jay, Jefferson, Jennings, Knox, Kosciusko, Lawrence, Madison, Martin, Miami, Monroe, Noble, Ohio, Orange, Owen, Parke, Perry, Pike, Posey, Putnam, Randolph, Ripley, Scott, Spencer, Steuben, Sullivan, Switzerland, Tipton, Vanderburgh, Vermillion, Vigo, Wabash, Warren, Warrick, Washington, Wells, White, and Whitley.
