Sen. Landske's Legislative Panel to Resume Illiana Expressway Talks

STATEHOUSE (Sept. 17, 2009) - Members of the Illiana Expressway Proposal Review Committee will resume discussions on Wednesday, Sept. 23, about a proposed bypass connecting northeast Illinois and northwest Indiana, State Sen. Sue Landske (R-Cedar Lake) said.

Wednesday's meeting will be at 10 a.m. at the main conference room of the Purdue Technology Center of Northwest Indiana, 9800 Connecticut Drive, in Crown Point.

"The Indiana Department of Transportation (INDOT) has a bistate agreement with Illinois to take the lead in studying the expressway," Landske said. "On Wednesday, reports will be given by INDOT, the Northwest Indiana Regional Development Authority and various engineers."

Landske, chair of the committee, said lawmakers will be reviewing an Illiana Expressway Feasibility Study prepared by Cambridge Systematics, a company specializing in transportation. Visit http://www.in.gov/indot/ to view the study online.

Sen. Landske represents Senate District 6, which includes Benton, Lake, Newton and Porter counties.
