INDIANAPOLIS (September 28, 2009) - The Indiana Center for the Book invites entries for the 2010 Best Books of Indiana Contest. Indiana has a long and illustrious literary heritage. The Indiana Center for the Book created the Best Books of Indiana competition to honor this heritage and recognize Hoosier authors.
Any individual, organization, or publisher may enter the contest. This competition is open to books with original publication in 2009 and must have an Indiana theme, or the author must live or have lived in Indiana. Books must have an ISBN and have been originally published between January 1 and December 31, 2009. Entries must be postmarked or delivered in person by Wednesday, March 31, 2010.
A panel of three judges in each category will consider all entries and will grant awards at their discretion. Entries are judged on the quality of writing, with organization and interpretation also considered. Finalists for the 2010 contest will be notified on or after June 30, 2010 and winners will be announced at an awards ceremony in August 2010.
Categories for this year's competition include (1) fiction, (2) nonfiction - historical/biographical, (3) nonfiction - creative/instructional, (4) poetry, and (5) children's/young adult. To enter, send a completed entry form and six (6) non-returnable copies of the book to the Indiana Center for the Book, Indiana State Library, 140 N. Senate Avenue, Indianapolis, IN 46204.
