INDIANAPOLIS (April 16, 2007) - Governor Mitch Daniels announced today the appointment of Gregory Alan Smith as judge of the Daviess County Circuit Court.  He succeeds Judge Robert Arthur, who is retiring effective April 27.

Smith, a Washington native, has previously served as the prosecuting attorney for Daviess County and has worked in private practice for 23 years. He received his undergraduate degree from Indiana State University and his law degree from Indiana University School of Law - Indianapolis.

Smith's appointment will be effective April 28.
