INDIANAPOLIS (December 28, 2007) - Governor Mitch Daniels and Oklahoma Governor Brad Henry have entered into a friendly wager as the Indiana University (IU) Hoosiers prepare to face the Oklahoma State University (OSU) Cowboys in the 19th annual Insight Bowl on December 31.
Each governor is wagering a basket of products from their respective states on the outcome of the game. In addition, the losing governor has agreed to wear for a day a tie bearing the winning university's logo.
Daniels acknowledged IU's late football coach Terry Hoeppner, who died shortly before the start of the 2007 season.
"Coach Hep's spirit carried the team to the Insight Bowl, and no doubt will be good for a win there. You can bet Coach Lynch will have them ready to play," said Daniels. "Governor Henry is a handsome guy under any circumstance, but he'll really be stunning in the IU tie I have picked out for him."
"OSU has a terrific team that is certain to benefit from an outstanding offense and solid post-season bowl experience," said Henry. "I am confident that Coach Gundy and the Cowboys will prevail, and I look forward to sampling some of the finest goods that the Hoosier State has to offer. I would urge Governor Daniels to start thinking now of what suit to wear with an orange and black tie."
Kickoff is at 5:30 p.m. (EST) Dec. 31 at Sun Devil Stadium in Tempe, Arizona.
