INDIANAPOLIS (February 6, 2007) ¿ Governor Mitch Daniels announced today the appointment of Kyle Hupfer of Indianapolis as chairman of the Indiana State Fair Commission. Hupfer will fill the vacancy left by Dr. Gene Sease, who completed his second consecutive term making him ineligible for reappointment.
¿Indiana owes Gene a real debt of thanks for the eight years he¿s given. Thanks to his vision, leadership and stewardship, the state fairgrounds are now one of our state¿s top event destinations,¿ said Daniels. ¿Kyle¿s efforts have already produced outstanding results for state government, and I¿m confident his leadership will be a great asset to the commission.¿
Hupfer was director of the Department of Natural Resources from February 2005 to November 2006. He is general counsel for ProLiance Energy in Indianapolis, and has been a partner at the law firm of Ice Miller LLP in Indianapolis, where his primary areas of concentrations were mergers and acquisitions, corporate finance, and general corporate counseling. Hupfer earned his undergraduate degree from Manchester College and his law degree from Indiana School of Law ¿ Indianapolis.
The Indiana State Fair Commission establishes policy and procedure for the year-round operations at the Indiana State Fair Grounds. The commission includes five gubernatorial appointees, the director of the Department of Agriculture, and the presidents of the Indiana State Fair Board and the Center for Agriculture Science and Heritage (CASH).
Hupfer¿s appointment is effective immediately.
